Rider Etiquette
Principles
- We ride with consideration for other cyclists, drivers and pedestrians, even though they may sometimes be inconsiderate to us.
- We look after our fellow CVLC members.
- We obey traffic rules and cycle track signs whenever possible.
- On tracks and paths, we take particular care for other cyclists and pedestrians.
- We stay in touch. We ride so that we can see the next cyclist in front and the next cyclist behind us.
- We indicate at junctions for the benefit of our group and other road users, particularly at complex junctions and in heavy traffic.
- At junctions we ensure the person behind us knows where the group is going before riding on.
- We don’t cycle in a continuous line but leave gaps for cars to pass.
- If one person stops, we don’t all stop together in a bunch blocking the road or creating a hazard.
- We tell others before leaving the group.
- When riding near the back of the group we look out for the last person or anyone who may have a problem.
- We are generous to our webmaster giving them priority in any café queue.
- No webmaster shall ever expect to be taken seriously.
- Riders with a sense of humour failure may be dropped unceremoniously (for a bit).
